La notte ha impegnato molto i timonieri che si sono dati il cambio ogni mezz’ora: c’era poco vento al traverso ed era importante tenere alta la concentrazione per riuscire a far andare la barca. Abbiamo viaggiato da ieri notte tra i quattro e i cinque nodi fino alle 8 di questa mattina quando il vento ci ha mollato del tutto e abbiamo dovuto accendere il motore. Le ultime previsioni danno una bolla d’aria proprio sopra di noi per cui dovremo muoverci almeno 40 miglia prima di trovare ancora del vento che ci permetta di andare a vela. La bassa pressione in Nord Atlantico sta alterando tutta la situazione spingendo l’alta pressione delle Azzorre fuori posizione e bloccando cosi gli alisei, probabilmente ci vorrà ancora un po’ di tempo prima di trovare venti di una certa intensità.
Wednesday 22nd November 2023 The night was very busy for the helmsmen who took turns every half hour: there was little crosswind and it was important to keep concentration high to be able to keep the boat going. We traveled from last night between four and five knots until 8 this morning when the wind gave up on us completely and we had to turn on the engine. The latest forecast shows an air bubble right above us so we will have to move at least 40 miles before we still find some wind that allows us to sail. The low pressure in the North Atlantic is altering the whole situation by pushing the high pressure of the Azores out of position and thus blocking the trade winds, it will probably still take some time before we find winds of a certain intensity.
